Perm Engine builders congratulated the company’s veterans

In honor of the 65th Victory Day anniversary, "Perm Engine Company" JSC organized some programs and events for the company's veterans.

Yesterday, May 6 a festive concert was given in the A.G. Soldatov Palace of Culture  to welcome over a thousand veterans of the war and home front. Wartime songs, congratulations of the company's managers, dances to the wind band - everything was devoted to the veterans that night.

- This year we are celebrating common for our entire country anniversary - 65th day of the Victory in the World War II ! - said "Perm Engine Co" JSC CEO M.D.Dicheskul in his congratulatory speech to the veterans. - Our company also has its great Victory history. All through the war Perm-made engines served as reliable "hearts" to the fighter, bomber and attack aircraft. The victory in the sky was helped by thousands of engine builders who day and night worked hard on the plant shop floor. The war years at the plant brought up a generation of highly qualified engineers, designers and managers. The sense of responsibility and devotion to their work was carried on by the generation of the Winners through their entire life!

On the Victory Day every family recollects its heroes - those relatives who were at war and worked on the home front, whose childhood was burned by war fire. Very important is to convey this memory from generation to generation to make the words "Victory Day" meaningful and filled with live history for our children and grandchildren.

Celebrations devoted to the Victory Day began at "PMZ"JSC as early as in the middle of April.  Over 500 veterans attended the festive events in the shops and departments of the company and 700 were visited at home.

Among those who accepted the congratulations at home was Varvara I.Kuptsova, former manufacturing engineer of shop 34, PMZ JSC

- I went to the front in 1943, - tells Varvara Ivanovna. - We, young girls were sent to Serpukhov, Moscow region, to the central women school for sniper training. The main subject in the curriculum was firing training. After a month-training we took the oath and three months later passed the exams. Till March 1944 I served in the instruction company, trained others in marksmanship. Then our platoon was sent to the 1st Byelorussian front, to one of the rifle regiments of 69- army. Our regiment fought their way all through Poland, Eastern Prussia and met the Victory somewhere 20 kilometers from Berlin. In November 1945 I returned to Perm and in 1951 having graduated the Aviation college I got a job at Perm engine Company as a manufacturing  engineer, welding processes.

The action ‘St.George Ribbon" at "Perm Engine Company" JSC will continue up until May 9. This time it is carried out on a larger scale: if in 2009 the veterans and the company's employees received 7 thousand ribbons this year, it is 12 thousand.

The memorial complex near the Soldatov Palace of Culture will meet the Victory Day renovated. It was constructed to memorialize the engine builders who fought at the WWII fronts. Along with PMZ JSC the reconstruction was financed by ‘Reductor-PM"JSC, "Aviadvigatel" JSC, "Proton-PM" JSC.  In the course of works the asphalt coating was replaced on the memorial, new paving slab laid, curbstone replaced, side bollards refined, new greenery planted etc.

On the 8th of May at 12.30 a festive meeting will take place near the memorial in honor of the plant workers killed during the World War II. After the meeting the veterans will go to the military cemetery to lay the wreaths on the soldiers' tombs which have been taken care of by the engine builders for more than 30 years.
