Boris Izgagin – a winner of the Stroganov prize
The ceremony of awarding the winners of the Stroganov prize by results of Y2009 was held on May 22, 2010 in "Crocus City Hall", Moscow. In the nomination "For honor and dignity" the award was given to the Hero of the Socialist Labor, an honorary citizen of Perm, Boris G. Izgagin who headed the Sverdlov plant (currently "Perm Engine Company" JSC) from 1973 till 1986. The prize for "Honor and dignity" was also awarded to the Double Hero of the Soviet Union, Colonel-General Mikhail P.Odintsov.
Boris Izgagin's son Georgy, Chief Welder of "Perm Engine Co" received the award in Moscow instead of the father. Boris G.Izgagin could not come to the ceremony but conveyed his thankfulness to Perm citizens for high appreciation of his labor via his son.
Boris G.Izgagin was borne on February 10, 1919 in the town of Chusovoy, Perm region. A graduate from Perm Aviation College in 1939 he got employed at Motorostroitelny Plant (engine building plant) named after Stalin (at present - Perm Motors Group) and worked as a manufacturing engineer, assembly shop manager, manufacturing director and from 1973 to 1986 - General Director of the plant. For the last 18 years having resigned from the high post he has worked as a senior engineer of the operations and maintenance department. As his teacher Boris G.Izgagin regards the director of the Stalin plant, A.G.Soldatov. It was Soldatov who insisted that Izgagin should get a higher education and appointed him as assembly shop manager.
Boris.G.Izgagin took part in creation of many Perm made engines: ASH-73TK, VK-1, RD-3M, D-20P, D-30, D-30F6, RD-253 and others. He contributed a lot to improvement of the plant's employees well-being. Only housing construction alone accounted for 30-40 thou.m3. The plant was in charge of 45 kindergartens, schools, pioneer camps, a stadium, a swimming pool and a ski base.
The Hero of the Socialist Labor, a winner of the State Prize, Order of Lenin, Order of Badge of Honor, Order of the Red Banner, Order of the Red Banner of Labor, Order of the October Revolution - this is just a part of Izgagin's awards record. As to Boris G.Izgagin himself the main award for him is the Order of the October Revolution which was awarded to the plant in 1984.
