ANDREI KOKOSHIN, HEAD OF DUMA COMMITTEE FOR CIS AFFAIRS, PAID A VISIT TO PERM MOTORS

On January 19, 2007 the Chairman of the State Duma Committee of the Russian Federation for CIS Affairs, representative of United Russia Party, Andrei KOKOSHIN, within the framework of his business trip, paid a visit to the companies of Perm Motors Group. The purpose of the high-ranking official visit was the acquaintance to one of the leading companies of the Russian engine building industry.

During the visit Mr. Kokoshin met with the top managers of the companies of Perm Motors Group: Valery Zheglov, General Director of Perm Motors Group Management Company, Sergei Smolin, Managing Director of Perm Engine Company, Nickolai Koksharov, Deputy General Designer of Aviadvigatel Open Stock Company, Nickolai Semikopenko, Managing Director of "Reductor-PM" OJSC.

The problems of the aviation industry were discussed in details with particular attention paid to the aero-engine building. Andrei Kokoshin showed the great interest to gas turbine-driven gensets produced by Perm Motors. He noted that such machines have wide possibilities in small-power generation facilities and utilities infrastructure.

As of January 1, 2007 the companies of Perm Motors Group produced 414 gas turbines and gensets ranging from 2.5 MW to 25 MW for power generating companies of Russia. Among the partners of Perm engine companies are such companies as Gazprom, Surgutneftegaz, Ivanovskaya Generating Company, Bashkirenergo and others. The total running time of the Perm gas turbines reached 4,700,000 hours. The running time of the Perm power generation machines exceeded the level of 2,692,200 hours.

The Head of the Duma Committee gave high appraisal to Perm Motors Group experience in the international cooperation with foreign companies and in particular with Pratt & Whitney. As Mr. Kokoshin said that the expansion of the Russian aviation machinery to world markets must be the success outcome of such mutually beneficial business relations.

During the visit, a particular attention was paid to the updating of aircraft of the IL-76 family, which is achieved by replacing the out-of-date D-30KP engines with the PS-90A-76 engines that were certified for compliance with all international standards in the year of 2003.

The Chairman of the State Duma also made tours to the assembly workshops of the leading manufacturer of aero-engines and gas turbines. Mr. Kokoshin marked that such an engine as the PS-90A2 will highly contribute to the success of the Russian engine building and promised to assist in the engine certification in 2008.

At the end of his visit Mr. Kokoshin invited specialists of Perm Motors Group to attend the conference that will be devoted to the problems of small-power engineering and will be held in Yaroslavl in February 2008, where they can shear their vast experience with attendees.
