No noise limits for PS-90A-powered IL-96-300 aircrafts

In December 2006 the PS-90A-powered Il-96-300 aircraft compliance to all present and advanced noise requirements was confirmed.

Type perceivable noise certificate which confirms that wide-body long-haul aircraft Il-96-300-04 meets the requirements of Chapter 4 Appendix 16 ICAO "Environment Protection" and the requirements of IV Stage Aviation Regulation "Perceivable noise certification of aircrafts" signed on the 27th December 2006 by the Chief of Aeronautical register MAK V.V. Bespalov.

Certification has become possible due to the power unit additionally equipped by the 2nd generation sound-absorbing structures, which have significantly extended noise-absorbing limits. The new sound-absorbing system has been created meeting strict limits of sound-absorbing structures arrangement area based on complex calculated-experimental researches made by CIAM and CAGI.

The producers of the new sound-absorbing system for PS-90A are Federal State Unitary Corporation "Perm Plant "Machine-Builder" and OJSC "Metallist-Samara" which use materials developed by VIAM. Based on CAGI recommendations OJSC "Aviation Complex named in honour of S.V. Iljushin" had developed an intake equipped with the new sound-absorbing system, which was later produced by OJSC "Voronezh Stock Aircraft-Building Corporation".

This type perceivable noise certificate is in effect related to all Il-96-300-04 family aircrafts which have no differences from the type design influencing acoustic parameters.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Il-96-300 has become the second home-made aircraft meeting strict perceivable noise requirements, which took effect from January 2006. The first aircraft to overcome this "noise barrier" was freight PS-90A-76-powered aircraft Il-76TD-90VD.

In January 2006 aircrafts Tu-204 SE are preparing to get the certificate of compliance to the requirements of Chapter 4 Appendix 16 ICAO "Environment Protection" and the requirements of IV Stage Aviation Regulation "Perceivable noise certification of aircrafts". Further other PS-90A-powered aircrafts of OJSC "Tupolev" will be certified.
