Cuba will buy new aircraft with Perm engines

On October 2005, as a result of Russian-Cuban negotiations that took place in October this year in Havana, the Republic of Cuba expressed its intention to buy five new Russian aircraft with PS-90A engines within the next two years.

In these negotiations, Russia was represented by Ilyushin Finance Co. (IFC), Tupolev Company, VASO, IFC Technic and Perm Engine Company. The Cuban party was represented by the Government of the Republic of Cuba, Corporation of Cuban Civil Aviation (CACSA), Institute of Civil Aviation of Cuba (IACC) and Cubana de Aviacion Airline.

In the course of negotiations the Parties agreed that Cuba will buy two IL-96-300 aircraft, two Tu-204-100 aircraft and one Tu-204C aircraft with PS-90A engines. Thus, the order to Perm Motors Group under Cuban contracts may be at least fourteen PS-90A engines that doesn't include standby ones.

The parties are planning to sign the contracts for aircraft supply by the end of this year. Shipment dates are as follows: IL-96-300 - 12 and 14 months after the first advance payment, Tu-204 - 12, 14 and 16 months, respectively.

Besides, IFC offered to Cuba one more cargo aircraft Tu-204C. Now the Cuban party is considering this offer.

Also, in the course of negotiations Perm Engine Company and Cubana de Aviacion agreed on the aftermarket support of the engines installed at the first two IL-96-300 airliners of the Republic of Cuba. Transfer of these aircraft to the Customer is scheduled for November-December this year.
