PERM MOTORS awarded grants to the best students

On January 27, in the museum of PERM MOTORS GROUP the best students of Aero Engine Department of Perm State Technical University Aerospace Faculty were awarded the grants of Pavel Solovyov abd Arkady Shvetsov.

After the ceremony there was a presentation of the documentary film "The Last of the Great" dedicated to Pavel Solovyov.

It was already the forth year when the best students of Aero Engine Department of Perm State Technical University Aerospace Faculty were awarded the grants of Pavel Solovyov abd Arkady Shvetsov. This time, the grants were awarded to the 5th year students (Specialty "Aero Engines and Generator Packages") Irina Semenova (grant named after A.Shvetsov) and Eugeny Tarasov (grant named after P.Solovyov). Both students have already been working in AVIADVIGATEL as trainees for several years: Irina - in Advanced PS-12 Engine Design Department, Eugeny - in Industrial Engine Diagnostics Department.

During the ceremony, Alexander Inozemtsev (General Director of PERM MOTORS GROUP Management Company, Chief of Aero Engine Department of Perm State Technical University) noted that talented young specialists can make the engineering profession as prestigious as has been in the former times: "Engineering profession was in oblivion in the early 90ies. In my opinion, now the situation is being remedied, with our efforts contributing to it as well".

After the ceremony there was a presentation of the documentary film by Vitaly Yakushev "The Last of the Great" dedicated to Pavel Solovyov, a legendary Russian engineer and designer of aero engines.

Doctor of Technical Science, Associate Member of the USSR Academy of Science, Winner of Lenin Prize and USSR State Prize, Honored Scientist of RSFSR, Hero of the Socialist Labor (1966). Awarded many Orders and Medals. In 1940...1967 - design engineer, Head of Team, Senior Designer, Deputy Chief Designer, Chief Designer of OKB-19 Design Bureau; in 1967-1988 - Chief Designer, General Designer of Engine Design Bureau; in 1988...1996 - Adviser to AVIADVIGATEL General Designer.

Designer of the first bypass two-spool turbojet D-20P engine powering Tu-124 aircraft, the world first gas turbine engine with a free power turbine D-25V and a unique R-7 gearbox installed at Mi-6, Mi-10 and Mi-10K helicopters; D-25VF engine and R-12 gearbox for superpower V-12 helicopter. He headed the development of the best aero engines of those times: D-30 Series 1-3 installed at Tu-134, Tu-134A aircraft; D-30KU, D-30KP, D-30KU-154 installed at IL-62M, IL-76, Tu-154M, D-30F6 for MiG-31 fighter interceptor.

Pavel Solovyov is a designer of the PS-90A engine, the most state-of-the-art Russian engine for the last generation civil and military transport aviation (Il-96-300, Tu-204, Tu-214, etc.).
