Top Managers of Pratt & Whitney and Perm Motors Group Companies Discussed PS-90A2 Aero-Engine Development Program
From November 11 thru November 14 the delegation of Pratt & Whitney of USA headed by Mike Field, the company's Vice President for Commercial Programs, paid a working visit to the companies of Perm Motors Group.
The visit purpose was to review and evaluate the status and progress in the PS-90A2 aero-engine development and serial production program as well as the status of the program for industrial engines development. Moreover, the visit was general fact-finding character because some new top managers were appointed at Pratt & Whitney, and they had a need to discuss the future aspects of the cooperation.
Pratt & Whitney top managers made tours to workshops of Aviadvigatel Co. and Perm Engine Co. and discussed the current issues as regards the PS-90A2, PS-90GP-2A and PS-90EU-16A engine development programs.
Since the year of 2001 the companies of Perm Motors Group have been cooperating with Pratt & Whitney in the development of the PS-90A2 aero-engine. At present most of the tasks for the engine certification have been completed. Late in August the United Aircraft Corporation placed the first order for 12 PS-90A2 engines.
Moreover the joint program with the American partners envisages the industrial engines development on the basic of the PS-90A2 engine gas generator and in particular the PS-90GP-2A (mechanical drive) and PS-90EU-16A (50 Hz and 60 Hz AC generator drive).
During the entire period of joint cooperation the American company has continuously been performing their obligations, including those for products development, financing and after-sales services.
When commencing on the visit results, Mike Field, Vice President for Commercial Programs said: "I am glad to visit Perm Motors Group and have opportunity to meet with like-minded fellows such as Perm Motors Group managers, who are pursuing plans for products business efficiency improvement".
