Perm Motors must reach four-fold production output

On September 25, 2007 the United Aircraft Corporation held a visiting meeting at Perm Motors Group. The attendees were Valery Bezverkhny, UAC Vice President for Corporative Development, Alexander Rubtsov, General Director of Ilyushin Finance Co., as well as the top managers of Ilyushin Company, Tupolev Company, Samara-Metallist Company and the top managers of Perm Motors Group companies.

As Alexander Rubtsov said, the main purpose of the visit in Perm is the review and the companies' operational assessment from the point of their ability to support the larger number of orders for the PS-90A and PS-90A2 production. In the nearest 5 years the production output of these engines must reach 120 engines a year. At present only 30 engines per a year have been manufactured.

The specific thing about the Contract made by and between UAC and Perm Motors Group is that the contractual product - the PS-90A2 aero-engine - is in process of testing and has not been certified yet. As Alexander Inozemtsev, General Designer of Aviadvigatel, said, such a practice is quite standard for Western companies and in Russia such a contract was awarded for the first time. The PS-90A2 aero-engine certification must be completed in March 2009 and the first products will be delivered in May 2009.

At present not only Perm engine companies, but also UAC and Russian Government are interested in the early supply of the PS-90A2 engine to the aviation products market. Therefor about 5 billion rubles will be invested to Perm Engine Co over the next few years. As mentioned by Alexander Rubtsov, "New engines development and production is of great priority for the industry, and Perm Motors Group companies is one of the main sources of Russia, which support this business. Thus, the investments to the companies are reasonable and expectable, and will be allocated both by the government of Russia and private investors".

Valery Zheglov, General Director of Perm Motors Group Management Company, figures out approximately four-hold rise of production output and such a situation requires Perm engine companies to settle, in shortest time possible, the problems as regards the equipment retrofit and high-skilled manpower training.
