Perm Engines for North Korea
"Chosonhanggong" Trading Corp. from North Korea acquired two PS-90A engines for the Tu-204-300 aircraft, which will make flights as part of air fleet of Air Koryo Airline. Engines were manufactured at Perm Engine Co. in August 2007 and dispatched to Ulyanovsk, where they were installed on the aircraft. Now Korean partners and Perm engine companies have been negotiating the terms and conditions of a stand-by engine supply. It is planed to sign the contract in Pyongyang early in November.
In 2008 "Chosonhanggong" Trading Corp. is going to sign a purchase contract for the second aircraft. Engines for this aircraft will be sourced directly from Perm Engine Co.
Up-to-date PS-90A engines installed on the Tu-204-300 allow the aircraft to make long-range flights, for example, from Vladivostok to Moscow and even to St. Petersburg without any en-route stopovers for refueling. It is very essential for passengers because the time in flight will be 9 hours only and beneficial for the airline because it will save money that could be spent for en-route stopovers and aviation fuel.
On 14 May, 2005, the Tu-204-300 aircraft with the PS-90A engines was got a certificate of the type, which confirms the aircraft compliance with AP-25 Aviation Regulations accepted in Russia, which are adequate to European and American aviation standards. Thus, the Tu-204-300 aircraft entirely meets all the requirements for state-of-the-art aircraft, including the requirements for safety, flyover noise, harmful emissions and comfort for passengers and aircraft crew.
