50 000 running hours without overhaul
At the end of January 2009 OJSC "PMZ" made gas turbine unit GTU-4P ¹33001011 has accumulated 50 000 operating hours without overhaul since service entry. This is really a unique case considering that GTU-4P service life to overhaul according to the specifications is 25000 running hours which means that the GTU has serviced out as much as double of its TBO without removal.
The GTU is used as part of gas turbine power plant GTES-24 at Prirazlomnoye oil and gas field of "RN-Yuganskneftegas"Ltd
GTES performs double function - supplies electric power to Prirazlomnoye oilfield and recovers oil gas. The GTES equipment is maintained by "YUNG-Energoneft Ltd" under the maintenance contract with "RN-Yugansknaftegaz". "YUNG-Energoneft Ltd" in its turn holds a contract for GTU-4P fleet technical support with OJSC "PMZ" and a contract for service life extension with OJSC "Aviadvigatel".
In the near future GTU-4P ¹33001011 will be sent to OJSC "PMZ" for overhaul to be inspected with subsequent issue of technical reports and conclusions about its components condition to testify the unique results of Perm engine builders in achieving high operating time targets.  |  |
GTU-4P is designed by OJSC "Aviadvigatel" on the basis of D-30 III series aircraft engine - one of the most dependable engines in the world aviation history which reliability performance far exceeds the regulatory requirements.
GTU-4P ¹33001011 was made with the use of parts and assembly units of D-30 III series engine ¹ÌÑ01313059. On Tupolev Tu-134 the engine serviced out 16 675 flight hours having TSL of 18000 hours.
As an industrial gas turbine unit it was shipped by OJSC "PMZ" on January 31, 2001 and put into service on August 20, 2002.
Extension of TBO up to 50 000 hours was carried out by stages of 5 000 hours based on the Resolution ¹2006-606 approved by "YUNG-Energoneft Ltd", OJSC "PMZ", OJSC "Aviadvigatel" and OJSC "Reductor-PM".
The running time of one more gas turbine unit from Prirazlomnoye oil and gas field - GTU-4P ¹33011016 is approaching 50 000 hours without overhaul from service entry.
After considering the results of GTU-4P ¹33001011 inspection a decision will be taken as to the possibility of further operation of GTU-4P ¹33011016 without shop visit after 50 000 hours.
The experience of cooperation between "YUNG-Energoneft Ltd" on the one part and OJSC "PMZ" and OJSC "Aviadvigatel" on the other part clearly demonstrates the necessity and efficiency of direct communication between the operator and the product designer and manufacturer. It allows to jointly achieve highly reliable operation of the equipment and minimize the time for solving technical and economical issues as well as reduce the cost of GTUs life cycle.

As of 23.01.2009 OJSC "PMZ" has manufactured 32 power generating gas turbine units GTU-4P (including spare engines D-30EU-2).
Total running time accumulated by the GTU-4P fleet amounts to 900 000 hours.
High time GTU-4P ¹33991004Ð1 has accumulated 57 990 hrs. It underwent overhaul after reaching 31 636 hours.
