Perm engines lifted the first Il-96-400T up in the sky

In April CJSC "Polet" airlines became the first owner of the new Russian wide-body cargo Il-96-400T aircraft (side number 96101) powered by four perm PS-90A1 engines. That was the first of the three Il-96-400T aircrafts manufactured for "Polet" airlines. Under terms of the contract with "Ilyushin Finance Co." the company should receive the two other aircrafts till the end of the year 2009.

The transferred Il-96-400T aircraft had been tested in Voronezh at VASO OJSC. The solemn "transfer into operation" ceremony was also held there.

According to "Polet" airlines the purchase of Il-96-400T with perm PS-90A1 engines will make it possible for the company to fortify its position at the regular cargo transportation market both in Russia and abroad. Il-96-400T aircraft will be operated on the Far East and Siberian trade lanes and in the long term it will link Russia with India, China, Latin America and Europe.

For the first time Il-96-400T aircraft powered by perm PS-90A1 engines was exhibited at international airshow "MAKS-2007".

PS-90A1 is a modification of PS-90A engine. Increased up to 17400 kgf thrust at full power conditions is its key feature. Besides the engine has low-emission combustor and second-generation noise absorbing systems.

CJSC "Polet" airlines carry out ultraheavy and bulky cargo charter transportation all over the world. The company also carries out regional passenger operations and business aviation charter flights.
